Just had an email from Fox Creek about a sale on chaps. If I were in the market I would call them.

the Textile stuff I will say I think is way warmer and packs easy.
i got a First gear Kilimanjaro 3 season jacket last year and it is above and beyond better than any leather I have worn.
I got a Pilot trans Urban 2 Jacket last Xmas and agree it blows leather away.
Never thought I'd say that but there it is.

No idea why someone would wear chaps other than as a costume or a joke. I'm sorry, but I can hardly keep a straight face when I see someone wearing them.

Put some thermals on, or buy some fleece lined jeans.

Oh....Big Love likey....Big Love likey alot.

In fact, I have three free passes....and Christina Aguilera is one of them. An actual Klingon female, and Paula Dean are the other two.

Those are sexy costumes on cute girls for the purpose of amusement and entertainment. Chaps on a dude....amusing and entertaining for a different reason.

I've had chaps, I got rid of them. I did take my polar edge bibs on a trip once. (Used for winter fishing) Kept me very warm.
My problem is "fingertips", need different gloves.

Chaps may or may not make sense on a touring bike with fairing, bur ride a Sportster or a Dyna in the northeaset in the fall after dark, and they really help keep you warm...hope that clears it up a bit.

If you were the one who forgot your chaps during a day of driving cattle through snow covered brush, I guarantee you wouldn't see the humor in it at the end of the day, no matter what else you were wearing for leg wear. Your thermals and fleece lined jeans wouldn't do ****. Very, very few textile alternatives work under those conditions.

I realize this is a slight departure from the topic, but I'm sure you take my point. (OK, maybe I'm not so sure of that) But a lot of the same can apply to wearing chaps while riding a bike. They work fine for a lot of people. Personally, I couldn't give a damn about how you feel about how I look as long as my teeth aren't chattering.

I feel like that about my big fluffy seat cover. Keeps my *** warm. Don't really care if people hate it.

I'm not a fan of the look of chaps. I don't question their functionality. I'm sure they are uber useful to both cattle rustlers and bikers. (are they still called cattle rustlers?)

As far as protective gear goes, if I were dressing for the slide and not the ride, I'd probably really be glad to be wearing some leather chaps.
