Are Harley Dealers closing in your area?
This summer, two Dealerships closed permanently in my area. Monroe, Wi, and Janesville, Wi. I was wondering how stable the HD ship is these days all over the country. It seems to me that Harley missed the opportunity by not continuing to manufacture parts for older Harleys. There are still a ton of Evos, and Older Twin Cams out there. Harley has let the aftermarket have this business opportunity. I am more than often forced to buy aftermarket, or buy used parts online these days. The nearest dealer by me now is Rockford, Il and they have purged their Evo parts long ago.

My dealer is pretty good, I have an 07 CVO and at first look we thought I had a bad clutch cable...of course being a CVO it's a different cable and there was only one available in the USA. Turns out I didn't need it, so I asked him what happens if I need it later, he told me his parts guys are trained to find aftermarket parts that are replaceable with no visual difference as they are prepared to work on any customers older bikes....I like my dealer

most dealers from what i have heard wont work on anything older than about 10 years or so. I am not sure about my dealer i havent had them do anything but from what i have heard there is a older guy in the service department thats name is shovelhead Fred, so that would maybe think my dealer will work on older bikes.

Tampa Harley is changing. A big mega boutique store planned for off of a major interste on 15 acres. The name will be Wesley Chapel Harley Davidson. Meanwhile Tampa Harley will downsize considerably and change location and cator to clothes and a couple of bikes. Might take 18 months but it IS happening.

We've had 2 close in West-Central WI. But, not because they were starving.
Al Muth in Black River Falls. He had some personal tragedies in his life and just decided to close shop.
They were doing well right up to the day they closed.
Winona MN H-D. They were a "satellite store" which opened to handle the overflow business of LaCross Area H-D.
They originally figured it would be needed for about 10 years. It lasted just shy of 20. Again, did decent business
but outgrew its usefulness.
Those 2 closed, but LaCrosse Area H-D is thriving. Every time I go in there it's pretty packed and busy!

Three in my area have recently changed hands. Halls in Chico changed hands I think a couple or so years ago. The HD in Carson City Nv closed a couple of years ago because I believe they weren't paying Harley for their bikes. An auto group bought it and has reopened it as Battle Born Harley. Chester's in Reno recently sold to Redwood Harley in Eureka which also owns Yuba City Harley. I don't know if they have changed but I had a recall done and a small bit of service which they messed up.
