This summer, two Dealerships closed permanently in my area. Monroe, Wi, and Janesville, Wi. I was wondering how stable the HD ship is these days all over the country. It seems to me that Harley missed the opportunity by not continuing to manufacture parts for older Harleys. There are still a ton of Evos, and Older Twin Cams out there. Harley has let the aftermarket have this business opportunity. I am more than often forced to buy aftermarket, or buy used parts online these days. The nearest dealer by me now is Rockford, Il and they have purged their Evo parts long ago.
These two dealerships didn’t close due to lack of business, they closed because the owner, who was one in the same, was stealing from Harley.
They should both reopen under new ownership shortly after the first few the year.
In Indianapolis it seems like the three local dealers have no problem selling bikes. All three are on social media with videos and pictures of bikes being sold and bikes being delivered.
The two in my area that I'm aware of are High Octane HD and Boston HD. I typically go to High Octane over in Billerica if I need parts or fluid. Never been to Boston HD over in Revere.
High Octane is owned by a group that owns at least three that I know of...Sheldons in Auburn and one in Albany NY...
When I worked in New England and kept a second bike there I frequented American Harley in Leominster....great people, good deals off season
We lost Lighthouse Harley Davidson in Huntington Station, LI, New York a while ago. The other dealers (Miracle Mile, Nassau County, Suffolk county, Eastern, NYC, Staten Island, Empire) are still around.
