Some good information in the article comparing specs of the two different bikes. I have ridden neither but, based on looks alone, I prefer the SG. I can certainly see where the frame mounted fairing on the RG could be a plus but I just don't care for the buck toothed look. Personal preference...

The biggest difference between the two is the Streetglides engine is designed to be revved very loudly at every stop light with its peak horsepower and torque at 5000rpm in third gear until you hit the next traffic light.
The RoadGlides engine is designed to hum along at 2000rpm in 6th gear at 75mph.

Pretty close in theme.

Personally I care for neither as I don't like fairings. But if I had to choose it would be the SG just because I find the stock bars on the Road Glide to be way outside of my preferences. Whenever I have test ridden a RG, I found the bar position and posture to be awkward. It always gave me a very vague steering feel and put my hands and wrists at an odd angle. It's like someone took mini ape hangers and bent them at odd angles to make them vaguely resemble a wide and tall version of a buckhorn bar. I understand the reality that the bars must be of the type to not interfere with the fixed fairing but not sure what they were thinking when they designed them. When I mention this to dealer sales guys when they ask how I like the ride, they just say they understand the bars are not everyone's cup of tea but a lot of people will install new bars after purchasing. Great..So you purchase a $25K bike that you have to spend $2-3K to install new bars to make it acceptable. No thanks.
