ORIGINAL: Scorpio

As a commercial truck driver I can tell you that you dont want to be near one when it blows. There is 120 lbs of pressure in truck tires and it comes out with extreme force. I had one blow out on me a couple of years ago and it literally blew the entire fender off the truck.

As an X commercial driver myself with many log book hours it's simple.
STAY AWAY FROM TRUCKS--PERIOD

Get by them as quickly and as safely as possible.

I am also in the trucking industry and I quit usingre-treads 22 years ago when one of my trucks blew a reartire and took out the radiator on the car tailgating it. One of the most important things is air pressure on a truck tire. A low tire gets real hot and therefore expands. Plus if they are duals the other tire has to pick up the slack and it gets hot also. It's presure is already high so it really explodes . I am really picky about tires and I don't care if the truck is dirty, the tires better be right!
Blast on by us, we all crack our windows to hear you. Nothing sounds better than a sporster with drag pipes.
You have to ride to work for me. And if you don't you eventually will.

I was to the left and 20-30 feet behind a semi when his tire went, I didnt get hit with any debris, but I did hit the VERY LARGE piece of tread left in my lane. There was no way to avoid it. I stood on the boards and gassed it as the front tire hit it. It launched my bike at least 1-2 feet in the air. I got lucky and landed smoothly with no wobble,I pulled off the highway and was so shakey after getting off the bike I was unable to ride for almost an hour. AVOID SEMI'S IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!!!
