Default ready for windshield on fatboy

I have decided to put a windshield on my fatboy due to the amount of bugs I am encountering at night here in Fla as well as the amount of highway driving I seem to be doing.

My deciding factors for which windshield will be to keep it as discrete as possible as well as ability to detach for when I am in town riding.

I have narrowed it down to the Windvest and the Harley low profile.

From what I have read here, it seems that many like to look over the windshield rather than through it, which I think I would prefer.

I was wondering how much wind protection the 14 inch provides? I figure it will stop about shoulder height and also figure it will deflect a lot of bugs and wind, right>???

Get a detachable Harley Compact, cut to just below your line of sight, and you have the best of both worlds. Once you have one it's tough to be without it except around town on a short ride.

Would never put a winshield on my Fatty. Just plain does not look right. Just my 2 cents

I got a 07 fatty just like yours and I got the detachable and love it.
It really helps out on longer rides and with all the rain we have gotten in N texas this year its bug central.
When just putting around town I take it off .

I felt the same way, until I rode around with a windshield for a few days. Now I just about never ride without one.

I recently put a detachable windshield on my '03 Fatty. I needed it for those times when I have to take the interstate, which are few and far between. Otherthan those times, it sits in the garage.

I bought that HD flame windshield. I think it actually looks good on the bike. I bought it online at Chicago HD and saved about a hundred bucks.

I'm 5'11" and have no problem seeing over the top of it and it's big as far as windshields go. I do get a lot of head turbulence from the frontend but don't do enough interstate driving to warrant the shields for the lowers.

Yeah, the flame shield looks cool, but I don't have the aux lighting and don't plan on putting it on and don't think there is one for non aux lighting, at least not in my search.

I'll pass. If I wanted a winshield I would have gotten a bagger. Actually I plan on getting a bagger soon too!!!
