Thoughts on this '13 Police Edition Electra Glide? $11,995
Hey everyone, been while since I posted here, still working on getting my dad's old Lowrider back in action. While that's being worked on, I want to find something for the lady and I to ride, and something to serve as my daily rider to/from work every night.
I love the look of the police bikes, the colors, tank emblem, all of it. I found this one that I'm interested in: https://www.heritagehd.com/default.a...OwnedInventory
Prices on cycletrader and Facebook seem to be all over the place. Does this one seem reasonable?
*** I'm a current LEO in Wisconsin. If this bike was used by a department, is there any way to verify that? I would never, NEVER buy a used police car/SUV because I know how we treat them... If the same holds true for bikes, 6500 miles on this may be more similar to 30k miles on a normal bike... ***
Thanks everyone!

Thank you for the info. Is there something about the bike that tells you it was converted for civilian use? Or was the Police Edition ever sold to civilians straight from the factory? I read elsewhere on this site that people often buy used police bikes, but I'm unsure whether or not Joe Blow bought this bike from the factory and added the slip ons and seat.

As mentioned, the Mustang seat, aftermarket exhaust, heated hand grips, stereo, detachable hardware and riders backrest point to a civilian bike. Anyone can buy a police bike straight from the factory, it just has to have the emergency equipment (lights, siren, etc) removed before street use.
I feel like the price is a bit on the high side for this bike. I was in New Smyrna Beach Florida a couple weeks ago and the local HD dealership had two 2015 police bikes, one was a Road King, the other an Electra Glide. The RK was listed at $10,999 and the EG was $11,999. Granted neither of those bikes had all of the add ons that this bike has.

I doubt it was an actual department owned bike. You could buy the police models new. There was a Firefighter edition too. Basically pretty similar to the Electra Glide standard. A bare bones bike with no stereo. I have seen Road Glide versions and Electra Glide versions. The actual department owned bikes I have seen show a lot of use. My guess is either someone put a pile of money in that one, or it was bought new by a private citizen. Even if it was bought new by a private citizen, they still spent a lot of money on it. But, ask yourself, why would a department sell it with that low of miles? Seems to me they wouldn't. There is nothing about it that makes be think it was a department owned bike.
I see ones like this and I think right away they were a department owned bike.

I would be pretty interested in the one you are looking at. Looks like a nice bike with a lot of extras.

I purchased my 2016 FLHTP from a dealer in FL for 10k. It was straight from the Police Department, they still had to remove the stickers and lights from it. It's my understanding that the only people who can buy a brand new police bike are active or retired law enforcement or public safety personnel with proof of current or prior service.
