More like 5 seconds. Most of those guys aren't as fast as their bikes. I occasionally ride with a fairly fast crowd (Ducs,Aprilias, BMWs, etc) and I'm never more than 15 seconds behind on my Street Pig. That said, 15 seconds is a lot of distance at 70-100 MPH. Fortunately we regroup at turnoffs.

Yeah, what fun not to be able to work on ones own bike or having to wait such gawd-awful times etc. Thing is, even the Harley's are 'getting there' to the point one can't hardly work on it themselves, but this is being done on purpose just like it's been done to the automobile industry. The dealers/auto makers are tired of losing out on that extra penny they could have that some 'damned backyard mechanic' stole from their pocket!

I’d rather have my old bike too, but fate had other plans and an accident robbed me of the bike I’d planned to keep forever.

After reading all of this, all that I can come up with is if you never plan on buying one what do you care?
Sounds like a bunch of old man grumbling to me.

The XDiavel, with the forward controls, would be the bike to compare to the FXDR. The Diavel has the rear sets and is more of a sport oriented bike. I personally like the looks of both the XDiavel and the Diavel......giving the XDiavel a slight edge in the looks department though. The thing I don't like about the XDiavel (and the FXDR) is the forward controls. A power cruiser should not have forward controls. When it comes to Ducati, I'll take the Monster 1200 S or R.

I have test ridden a V-Rod Muscle and a FXDR. Put maybe 20 miles on each. And those rides were a year apart. My thoughts on it are the FXDR is simply a slower V-Rod. Handled about the same to me. I will say, I liked both of them more than I thought I would. But not enough to buy one. Well....maybe a VRSCR.
I never rode the FXDR but I did test ride the V-Rod Muscle. Since you ride both how was the lean angle on the FXDR compared to the V-Rod Muscle. I ask because I was scraping pegs just pulling out of the parking lot on the V-Rod. Terrible lean angle. The other thing that didn't really impress me was, I was expecting better low end torque. Wasn't impressed at all with that. The torque specs on the FXDR are way better than the V-Rod Muscle, 119 ft-lb vs 87 ft-lb. I can see the V-Rod having more top end though, but the lack of low end torque was a turn off for me.

Friend of mine has one, it's a decent bike. I'd own one if I could have 5 different bikes.

Really hard to say on the lean angle. The riding I did was in the Suburbs and not exactly corner heavy. I managed to sneak off the approved route and find a few with the FXDR and it seemed fine. In fact it handles much better than I expected once up to speed. At parking lot speeds that slack head angle makes the steering heavier than I like. With the V-Rod I was stuck on the route and, other than a bunch of 90 degree corners, I couldn't really put it to the test. That said, I also took out a new Fat Boy and ground the **** out of the boards so I can say the V-Rod was much better than the Fat Boy - which isn't saying much. I also took the new Heritage out and it seemed to have decent lean angle. But then I rented one out west and scraped the **** out of those boards too. I guess what I'm saying is I would have to get both on a real road to find out. But neither was horrible in the small loop I did.

On power - yup, the FXDR has the low end grunt. The V-Rod likes to rev, which I like. I haven't owned a fast bike in awhile so the V-Rod was pretty exhilarating vs my Street Glide and classic bikes. Made me miss fast again. Not that it's truly fast. But it's fast enough to put a smile on my face.

Honestly, overall both were much better than I thought they would be. But of all the bikes, the 114 Fat Bob was the best. Not as fast as the V-Rod, but handled very well. The suspension was compliant on our shitty midwest streets, which is a big deal. It's just a very nice all around bike.

I know I'm in the minority of liking the FXDR... Will I buy one, I doubt it, but would consider it. My local HD dealer has been sitting on the same three FXDRs for about 4 or 5 months now at least. Last time in they were offering "2000 gift card with purchase".... No thank you, drop the bike down $5k and I might come talk to you lol.
