St Augustine Summer of 2016 and Pensacola Beach in 2015.

 

Quick story about those 2 from St Augustine. I'd left West Tn early in the morning, got hung up in Atlanta traffic for several hours due to a wreck and construction, and finally hit Jacksonville about 9pm. It was a solo trip and I was tired and ready to hit the hotel and get a refreshing beverage. I go to downshift and the pedal bounces off the footboard. Shifter splines had sheared off. I manage to get the bike into 4th and coast it the rest of the way in. Thankfully I managed to avoid having to make any stops at lights. I'm tired. I'm alone. The bike is broke and I don't even know where the closest shop is. Nothing to do until morning. I'm stressed. That view is what I woke up to from my hotel room. I decided right then that there were far worse things than being stranded in St Augustine. I called up Adamec Harley Davidson in Jacksonville as soon as they opened and improvised a totally safe field repair that enabled me to limp the bike there. They had me back on the road and enjoying my vacation in an hour. Turned into one of the best trips I ever took on a bike.
