Default Curiousity question for those who've replaced their engine..

I'm curious... I live in one of those states that wants you to register/update title when the engine is replaced. Has anyone ran into issues without registering their S&S or replacement engine?

Not yet. I try not to attract too much attention. S&S has a 50 state legal engine too.

Keep a copy of the engine MSO on the bike...and play dumb...unlikely to be an issue unless you try to sell it...

You just spent big $$$$ on a new motor, so why not spend the few bucks extra on getting it registered?

If you don’t change the engine details over how can you expect an insurer to cover you if the bike is damaged, wrecked or stolen

You live in CA, no? My phone isn't showing location.

I would toe the line on this one. Back when I lived in San Diego I started an engine replacement project in my 94 bagger. Technically you're supposed to get the finished bike to the CHP VIN inspector to show them you legally purchased the engine. If it's an MSO or bill of sale for a used engine, they just need to varify it's not stolen. Then back to the DMV to have your title changed to show the new engine serial number.

If you don't do this and you **** off a cop they can impound your bike since your DMV info will not match the bike.

I'm thinking that's what I should have done at this point.... DMV is stating replacing the engine gets a reconstruction title...

That's what I'm doing, but getting the run around that others in the state haven't had to do or problems others haven't had.

Insurance company is aware of whats going on and they have copies of all the receipts. That's not the issue.

Nope, Not at all. Insurance company already knows about it.
