Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here...

I have heard of a way to file for reimbursement of mechanical work if the city had been made aware of the pothole in a certain timeframe. However, I have also heard that the success rate for this claim is very low.

But, I guess there are more efficient ways to get roads fixed...

Supposedly, as long as it's been reported. Heard about it too but don't know anyone who's tried it. There was a bill going through for a web page that would alert people to reported potholes and the like but Andy veto'd it saying it would cost 2million to implement. I think it was just so they didn't have to start paying people due to the horrible road conditions. Our tax dollars at work

Around 2002 I hit a overpass, shadowed pothole in Queens, NY at about 60mph,bent both rims and flattened my front tire of my old softail. It was a a slow go to the shop about 15 miles away and that was when I got my new upgraded rims on that bike. I never took it up with the city but considered it for a while.

Passed by a bad one last week and was able to miss it.
Makes you wonder how these newer low-profile rims survive at all.
Heard a NPR story the other day about filing claims...for a car.

They covered some of the damage and if I remember correct, the time and headache wasn't worth it at all.

Of course, that's how the system is built.

NY sucks. More interested in soaking citizens for taxes for welfare & social programs than actually fixing a road. One of the 18 reasons why I left & moved to Florida.

I grew up in NYC. Left in '78. WI had ads by the construction unions that say we had the worst roads. Called them Scottholes, and helped elect a Demoncrat.

I always laughed. Obviously a lot of people in WI have never been to Michigan, NY, Massachusetts.

Our newly elected Gov. (D) of MI ran on the slogan, "I'll fix the damn roads" , so she'll raise the gas tax 45 cents on the gal. with no guarantee it's all going to the roads. We just have to be a little more cautious on all of our roads.

Pa did the same thing years ago, we pay the highest gas tax in the country to pay for our roads. Guess what. Our roads are some of the worst in the country and something like 70% of our bridges are "structurally deficient".
