Default Redoing the padding on the seats.

After my last post about seat covers I decided to move forward on my idea of making a new seat cover out of pure leather. Looks easy to do but just remembered that the seat as it was, wasn’t very comfortable for long rides. I can probably get 100 miles or less before I get sore. So now I’ve been looking for ideas to redo the cushion/foam/whatever ya want to call it. Here’s what I come to a stop and not sure how to go about it. There’s memory foam, gel or just plain foam. What recommendation would you give to add more cushion to an old stock seat?

I had seat on Sportster repadded. Took it to furniture reupholstery shop.
He put in high quality foam and gel pads.
I wanted to reuse leather covering so I was limited to same thickness.
If you are redoing leather then go with thicker padding. Also put in gel pads.

Bicycle pants have gel pads in them. They work.

Any ideas on what padding was used?

3m to glue it on electric knife to cut and Makita side grinder to shape it. Finding the correct foam is the hard part. I've used old seats to get the right foam. Finding a good uploster very hard , their All used to easy car seats.

That was the problem I ran in to. I haven’t a clue what foam they use to upholstery a seat.

I have not done this mod, seems ebay has several options for seat foam, guess it depends on what your looking for in firmness.
