So it appears that HD will be celebrating their 105th year annivesary in 2008 with yet another series of Annivesary bikes. There was the 95th Anniversary, then the 100th Anniversary and now the 105th Anniversary. Isit just another marketing ploy to sell more bikes? Probably. Does it make them more collectiblethan non-anniversary bikes?Somewhat. Would you buy one?

Geez-H-Krist.

How many times can one guy post on the same topic in the same forum.

Maybe I do have what it takes to be a Road Master

Just the fact that you are calling it a "collectible" gives me the creeps..... It 's a motorcycle first. Ride it !!!
I see more guys selling new bikes that are only a few years old with 2-4 thousand miles on them being traded in for the newest (most collectable),bigger motormodel. Just the fact that they sell a 105 Anniversary bikes is a true testamentthatguys like you give them credence.
Try collecting old Baseball cards.... I hear they're fetching quite the sum these days.
Check out this video and see for yourself what HD says about the 105th. These bikes will be limited in production and in their own words "collectible." http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/C...p;locale=en_US

Heck, every year is an anniversary!

Why don't they make the anniversary colors a regular color scheme in the line up? Seems the anniversary'sare the only decent color schemes they're putting out lately. Most of the color schemes they're putting out of late are very ho-hum to yuk.

Though the candy orange and black retro one is pretty cool.

I picked up my 'Fatty less than two weeks ago. I didn't get it because of the 105th Anniversary. I got it because I wanted a FB. I don't like the Durcell color scheme though. I wanted black and that is what I got.

Have you seen the Crimson Red... I do not think that is a ho hum paint color..... But I do agree every opportunity foran anniversary is an anniversary. Its a way to get another $1500.00 out of the buyer for paint and emblems, who hopes it will be rare and collectable....... Perhaps they will be collectable down the road....just not in this lifetime.....

Not loving the 105's personally........I went for the Crimson Red instead.......

They have been making anniversary models for years. The COLLECTIBLE problem started in 2003 when even single bike produced was an anniversary model (probably 100-200,000 made). The black and silvers are the only limited production 100th anniversary bikes (don't know the numbers). The 95th (1998) were limited to under 4,000 and only produced several models in 95th trim, XL, Wideglide, Fatboy, Ultra.

The 90th and 95th aren't fetching much more than any other bike built the same year, so don't hold your breath on getting a premium, unless you plan on living until 2103.

I don't particularly care for the color so that would be the deal breaker for sure. I also don't care whether I have an anniversary model or not.

Too many anniversary models in my opinion , every 5 years with some model specific anniversaries falling in between . The last I remember was one for the Fatboy , meaning another FB anniversary in a year or two .

Just a little perspective

In 2003, Harley made approximately 240,000 bikes for worldwide distribution.
In 2006, Harley made approximately 360,000 bikes for worldwide distribution, a 50 percent increase in production in just 3 short years.

I don't know for sure but I bet for the most part that Harley made more of every "standard" color in 2006 in the various model lineupthan they made of the silver and black 2003 anniversary models in those same model lineup.

Worth more...only time will tell, meanwhile just ride.
