New seat cover means modified.
Even if it is a seat cover, it is still "Technically" modified. Maybe they want only stock seats.
Personally, I would never ship my seat out from far far away. I would rather go local then ship it out. They are no better than your local upholsterer. At least you can actually tell them in person.
Dont believe the HYPE. They probably got mad that the other guy that did your seat did a better job than them.

Since you have a custom cover, if something happens then they are on the hook for it compared to an OEM cover, chances are nothing bad will happen and if on the chance something does, it can be remedied easily, quickly, and at a reasonable cost to them.
Additionally, a custom cover is of unknown quality or materials, which further increases the chances of it getting messed up and then being on the hook for it.

I think you're going to find that skratch and Prot summed it up. It's the same in the automotive field. If a dealer sees a modified vehicle, the risk of not satisfying the customer due to something going caddywhompus goes up. When I had them do my seats, I could have swore I saw something on their webiste that stated they only do their thing on stock seats. Just looked at their site and I can't find it now. Of course the last one they modified for me was several years ago and things, like their website and policy, have probably changed since then.

I think this part of your original post sums it up. Maybe MCC stated it poorly but if that cover only fits a non-modified stock seat, why would MCC even attempt to do it?
