When I plan a trip I have a general area where I want to go. I have in mind the rides I want to accomplish while I am there. I usually wake in the morning and choose which ones I want to do but if I see or hear of another ride that is a must while out for the day, or see one in the area that I am going to do later in the week, I can and will alter my ride, or even extend it for the day. I plan on heading down to Maggie Valley in September and have many many rides that I want to do and attractions I want to see. Everything will go on a memory stick and I will down load it onto the bike from hotel computer the night before to go into my gps.

I don't like detailed plans, I see side roads and want to see where they go.

A morning planning session for that day is, IMHO, the best scenario. The weather changes, goals change, etc. No need to over plan.

A or B not F fairly simple question.
If I am riding in a group on a multi day trip, no brainer.
Make plans, have at least one back up in case chit goes side ways (the bigger the group the more chit).

I’ve done A and I’ve done B. I suppose I prefer a loose itinerary, just to hit the high spots but prefer to do it at my own pace. I’ve also just headed a direction and figure it out later.

I haven't rode with a group in a while (other than a few charity rides I've been on). My idea of a group ride these days is bringing my wife along and that's how I like it. I like to go where I want when I want. If I want to stop for fuel or to eat I stop. Something interesting catches my eye I stop.
I never liked having group discussions to decide on things.

Once a year I go with 3 others for a 7 - 10 day ride . Gets pretty detailed with where to stay and things we do . I always tell them I really don't care where we go or what we do because it's usually a new place I've never been before . I just go with the flow , just as long as I can ride is all that matters to me . This is a big world with so many things to see and I would like to see it all if I could but probably won't .

The skies the limit when I'm out solo . No plans , gone for a day , gone for a few . I'll figure it out when I get there .
