Default Summer riding attire.

A few weeks ago I learned a real important lesson about wearing sleavless shirts while riding. Don't do it if its hot out.
I bought a real nice sleevless shirt at the river run. I wore it on a ride, and I wound up with 2nd degree burns. NOT fun. Since then I have been covering up. I have found it to be much cooler(were talking 100 degrees+/- out) I have been wearing a white longsleeve T-shirt. Today I wore a long sleeve button down denim shirt, because the T-shirt was dirty. I think the denim shirt actually worked better.
Im also now wearing gloves. Someone told me billet grips dont get hot. They lied to me So I picked up some Mechanics gloves. They are working great. the nylon mesh top keeps my hands from getting too hot, and air goe through them.

Then with a Bandana to keep my forhead from getting charred at the hairline( learned about that last summer) and a pair of sunglasses. I deffinately dont look like your stereotypical leathered up biker/ Pirate. More like a broke Chollo I guess. Eh. WTF.

I do the same now with the long sleeve shirts. I used to think that after my arms were tanned they wouldn't burn much.....I was wrong. Sunscreen works just as well as the shirt, you still get the direct heat from the UV rays but no burn, what a novel idea.

I wasn't aware that there were people left in this world that didn't know you need to wear sunblock if you're going to be out riding in the sun.

But sorry about the burns.

Try a long sleeved white dress shirt. Lighter and cooler than a t-shirt but protects you just as well. And it's easier to take off when you stop.

I'll wear a shirt for a while on long runs but not the whole time. I'd rather have the tan although it does look a little funny with my snow white legs when I have shorts on at home. I didn't pay for the ink on my arms to hide it but I did go with straight blackwork so it would hold up better under the sun. I also use gel-palm fingerless leather ridin gloves.
