I’m 46 most of my friends have joined the black out crowd, but I still love chrome.
Here’s my 09 FXSTC and my 90 4 speed Sportster

I’ve never been a chrome guy when it comes to my bikes.
That said, I bought my current ride used and it was obviously owned by a chrome junkie.
I’ve removed a fair amount but it still has plenty left and I’m slowly learning to live with it.

Those both look great, but that sporty really has a great old school look. Nicely done.

How can anyone say black is less work than chrome ? Go for an hour ride on each side by side. The black bike will be covered with dust. The chrome one will need nothing. Go ahead and wipe the black one down and add to the wonderfull "Swirlmarks: I have yet to look closely at a black bike that doesn't look like it was washed with fine sandpaper. Last black one was a 1975 FX, and I said never again. To each, his own. Chrome is a much harder surface than paint.

NOTHING is wrong with chrome! I’ve had chromed and blacked out bikes - like them both. I just prefer the blacked out style on my bike. I never saw any difference in cleaning one or the other, but I do wipe down bike after rides to get all the dirt and guts from embedding in the coatings. Sometimes, I think the reason behind these threads is just to unite all the denim paint/blacked out haters.
