I like black or chrome but it depends which bike it is on. I prefer the chrome on my Road Glide because it reminds me of a big old Cadillac and black on the Crossbones as it has more of a hot rod style. For keeping clean I will take the chrome over the black any day

 

I think PVD is the way to go. Pick your color(s).

 

some of us just want something different, I have had 8 chrome bikes over the years and just wanted a different look on my 2020 limited. As far as being a fad, I don't think so, denim paint was supposed to be a fad too, yet 12 years later we still have the option.

I like chrome, when is tastefully done and not over the top. I think things changed with cars starting to paint wheels black few years ago and it just cascaded to bikes. I am biased though, and I like blacked out look. However, a nice balance of both looks nice. I think on older bikes, that are more classic, it would not look good all blacked out.

 

Gotta be done right. Glock did PVD coatings for a couple of years on some of their recent single stack pistol slides and it wore off in no time.

 

I always hear what a PITA the chrome is to clean, but Im not seeing it. Spray down with S-100, rinse and dry with forced air = no streaks or water marks - 15 minutes to make my RK shine like new.

I only need to “polish” the chrome once a year, and I usually do that in the winter when its sitting in the garage.

 

I posted in here a couple years ago...but hey,,,, the chrome is still shiny....

 

I love chrome! I had the back wheel, sprocket, and fork tubes chromed because they were polished aluminum. Polished rotors. Bought the bars and the pipes already chromed. That's pretty much it the rest is stock.

Nothing is wrong with chrome.

 

I'm like 5 min from Concord Maxxym.. Red hawk is still there but the area has grown up a bunch.
