What is wrong with chrome

sorry, but who cares how many 'younger generation' have $40k to spend on a cvo? the cvo was never meant to be an entry level bike that everyone could purchase. that's like asking how many of the younger generation have $85k to spend on a gmc 3500hd denali? there's plenty of us 'older generation' folks that don't have that kind of coin for a bike. or truck for that matter.

Here is a question for all the artists in the forum....
How do we decide whether to pick a chrome cover or a black cover for something we want to put a cover on?
Here is a real world example. I have a new 2018 Road King. It is not black. It is two tone (olive-gold and black tempest). I want to put a cover on my oil cooler to protect it from road debris (keep from poking hole in it). My frame is black and the cooler is black, but the paint scheme is not black. So do I get a black cover for my oil cooler or do I get a chrome cover from my oil cooler? What is the general rule? How do we know if something is going to look good before we buy it and put it on and find out it does not look good?

Now as it is we’ll know by starting this conversation I love me some chrome but it can be overdone, as can anything.

That's my point. The OP said the blacked out bikes are to appeal to the younger generation. If the younger generation doesn't have $40K to spend on a street glide CVO, why did they black them out? Most of the people with $40K to spend are old farts like me and most of us prefer chrome.
but, i'm an 'old fart' as well, and i like the blacked out look. kind of a moot point though, i don't have the $40k to buy a new cvo either

It took five months to come up with a name, but I think ‘Old Horse’ suits it fine. Like me, the bike is old-ish, has some miles on it, and is scarred-up in a few ways. We still chug along, though, and im out riding every day it’s not raining or snowing here in middle Tennessee.
