Would like the new engine and suspension but not enough to ride what I consider to be a way overpriced bike that I don't like the look of. I don't expect I will every buy another Harley. Just keep riding what I've got and when it dies I'll replace the engine or get something else.
sorry, but who cares how many 'younger generation' have $40k to spend on a cvo? the cvo was never meant to be an entry level bike that everyone could purchase. that's like asking how many of the younger generation have $85k to spend on a gmc 3500hd denali? there's plenty of us 'older generation' folks that don't have that kind of coin for a bike. or truck for that matter.

That's why Harley likes to sell the blacked out bikes. They make more money off of them.

Chrome hides the smudges better in sunlight than black does. Take a bright light to your chrome in a darkened garage. You will see all the imperfections (smudges) In short, Chrome is better at creating the illusion of a clean bike!

Here is a question for all the artists in the forum....
How do we decide whether to pick a chrome cover or a black cover for something we want to put a cover on?
Here is a real world example. I have a new 2018 Road King. It is not black. It is two tone (olive-gold and black tempest). I want to put a cover on my oil cooler to protect it from road debris (keep from poking hole in it). My frame is black and the cooler is black, but the paint scheme is not black. So do I get a black cover for my oil cooler or do I get a chrome cover from my oil cooler? What is the general rule? How do we know if something is going to look good before we buy it and put it on and find out it does not look good?

The rule is whatever you want it to be. Personally I’d make it black and I’m a chrome guy.
In my opinion I think it’s gaudy chrome, I’d rather hide it.

I get it.
If I consider it is an extension of the frame, which is black, then it should be black. If the frame was red, then it should be red, but since I can not get a red one, it should be chrome because chrome will go with any color.
Here is a picture of the cooler cover.

I'm a chrome and or a half n half guy. I'd definitely get the black one in this case. It's an oil cooler man. I wouldn't wanna draw attention to that part or area by highlighting it in chrome. NOW, if it we're an engine part, that could go either way. Depends on what ya like or want. I have a new FXBR. The bike is half. I put a black ventilator on it. Nice contrast to the engine chrome. fwiw, momma wanted chrome, lol
