OP I hope you have excellent luck with the SE comp. After installing 5 of them on my bike I finally went with the Baker one. No more issues.

Hey everyone!

Reviving an old thread... I'm currently getting the parts together to do my compensator (including primary overhaul), drive belt and rear sprocket.

The Baker Cruise Drive Primary Bundle will cost me $1230 (CAD) to my door, then I'll have to get a new rotor still.
The HD Compensator Kit costs $528 (CAD) from my local dealer.

All in for the whole job (Comp, belt, sprocket and gaskets/ seals) the parts list from the local HD Dealer comes to $1270

What would you do?? I like the idea of the Baker set up but it comes at a premium. Is it worth it?

P.S. I'm on an 2007 Electra Glide approaching 100,000 kms.

Thanks!!

Still looking for input, I just went on this thread instead of starting a new one.

Regardless of the topic or problem, I am always of the belief of fixing it once. I hate kicking myself in the ***. Always buy the better / upgraded product. That being said, more expensive doesn’t always mean better.

Baker is a solid company with a stellar reputation.

Now if their upgraded compensator was ten thousand dollars, then I would say hell no. It’s a few hundred dollars more which is well worth the peace of mind. Otherwise, every damn new or unexpected noise will make you immediately think, I should have bought the Baker, thus ruining your enjoyment of the bike.

My compensator went out on my Ultra Limited. I looked at Baker, the SE Comp, and after researching went with Darkhorse Man O War Motor Sprocket. Eliminated the comp completely. I couldn't be happier. Install was easy, it's quiet, no clunk going in gear, I can find neutral now first time every time. Best part is the instant torque response I get now. And with the cush drive system, if and when it ever goes bad you can rebuild it for $39.

Darkhorse puts out stuff that's designed to be pounded on and come out unscathed. Very impressed....
