It's hard for some to compare due to where they live. The weather simply does not permit them to ride during parts of the year.

Here in San Diego we're blessed with very moderate weather so year around is not a problem.

I've logged 17,500 miles in just over 6 months myself. I live an hour from work, so log alot of miles for my commute - but I wouldnt trade it for the world!
When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton I didn't own a car for 2 1/2 years just my old Super Glide. I put lots of miles on that old bike. I think it was around 24,000 and that was with being deployed (for 6 months and home for 1 year and start over agian) in that same time period.

I purchased my /07 Night train on 6 March 2007, I have put almost 8000 miles on it since then. How many miles have you put on a bike, and what do you consider alot?
I think it depends on the area you live and if you take the bike on trips or just around town. In good old Utah you can have as few as 6 months of good weather or up to 9 months. 8000 would be my max on a 6 month riding season, assuming I ride everyday.

Well I have put about 1000 on mine in the last month since I bought it, to me thats a lot so far this year. I have a wife and 3 kids under 2 y/o and its not easy to get out on it that much for long rides. We both also work full time and on differentshifts. All that being said I may not have as many miles butIve been fortunate enough not have to sell my bikelike many have to to raise a family.Mycommute to work is under 3 miles so I dont log lots that way, althoughI do take rides when I get out of work at2300 hrs. I dont think that there is one bar to set for everyone tosay if aperson rides a lot or they dont.

I'ld say if you live up in the northland, over 15K is a helluva lot of riding. 10K is really good and average is over 5-8 probably, since most ofus have jobs and family and all the stuff that goes along with that. Now if I didn't have a family and I could ride like I did when I had my KZ1000st I'ld be putting around 20K on every year.

By my best estimates this year will be a good year ending at about 12K by Nov. when the snow and ice starts.

And I agree that if you are putting more miles on the bike that your car you are doing plenty of riding. That being said my truck will have about 10K this year.

Unfortunately in MN even a mild winter means enough snow/ice/and sub0 temps to stop riding for a couple months for sure, usually mid Nov, to Mid March.

That's why snowmobiles were invented though.
