I'm just practicing for when the kids are grown. Work, kids, and home come before riding for me, yea it sucks. I always want to get out and go for a ride, but there's always something I have to do after work or I gotta pick up two of the three kids. I'm not complaining, just don't get to ride as much as I would like too. So it ends up being a weekend thing for me and the wife. Like I said we are practicing for when the kids are grown, then maybe we will be 10,000 miles a year riders. With that said I'm sitting on 1,100 miles on my 1200N, I've had it for 4 months.[&:]

About 7900 miles on my EG on her 1 yr aniversary back on June 12. Guess that puts me about average. Put 700 more since then.

Well I put 2400 on in 9 weeks. My RK came the third week of April. However, between the wife, the job and the kids my time gets limited. In Ohio the rain and snow usually puts a damper on things. However, based on the desert around my house, me haven't had much rain this year.

One year, 365 days doesn't really meanmuch.

What is the length of your riding season vs. miles ridden would be a more realistic way to determine your numbers.

ORIGINAL: atomic

Yearly mileage:

<1000 - non rider
1000-5000 - low
5000 - 10,000 average
10000 - 20000 high
>20000 - Hardcore rider

That being said in the first year of Harley ownership I had 8500 motorcycle miles.

I got my Road King Classic two days before Christmas. I love my Wife. Did I mention I love my Wife. As a mater of a fact we just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary on the 4th of July. Anyway back to the miles. Two days before Christmas to the 4th of July I have 12,062 miles on my King. Did I mention I love my wife! Can I enroll in the Hardcore Club?

Well...I take mine out every Friday night down to the karaoke bar. Then on Saturdays I ride it to the Harley shop up the street to mingle with the other bikers. Sometimes, after I am done cleaning and waxing it on Sunday I will ride it around the block to make sure that it is all dry before I put it back in the garage. I guess I will put about 300 miles on it this year....but that is better than last year when I had all of the "stuff" put on my bike. I only was able to ride it about 180 miles. But I don't understand all the problems that people have with the seat. My stock seat is comfortable for the long trips that I do. I rode it 16 miles one Saturday. It didn't hurt me at all.
That's pathetic considering the great weather you have there in Arizona,if you lived in Illinois a guy like you would be lucky to put on anything more than 200 miles for the year...

It's hard for some to compare due to where they live. The weather simply does not permit them to ride during parts of the year.

Here in San Diego we're blessed with very moderate weather so year around is not a problem.

I've logged 17,500 miles in just over 6 months myself. I live an hour from work, so log alot of miles for my commute - but I wouldnt trade it for the world!

I don't use the bike to commute to work. If I did, it would either be gone when I got back (I'm a truck driver)or totally covered with dirt. It's strictly pleasure riding for me.

I took possesion of my Street Bob April 29, 2006. That means I've had it for 434 days now.
The bikegot put away for the winter October 26 last yearwith 5753 miles on it. Ididn't get to ride again until the 2nd or 3rd of April. That's 158 days (five months) of nonriding weather.......I hate winter!

When we got home from a 400 mile ride yesterday, my Street Bob's nowat9771 miles.

I haven't really kept track of the miles I've put on my other bikes in the last year, but the H/D has gotten far more riding than all the others put together.

I bought a new Toyota Tacoma July 2006. That only has 6707 miles on it now.

When I compare the number of miles on my bike to the miles on my pickup truck, I guess that I would say that I ride a lot.

Good point. As luck had it we had a pretty mild winter by Cleveland standards, got to ride my EG at least once each month except for February. No long rides tho, just around town.
