Got to ride a Timbersled last year. Was snowmobiling in the Northern Cali Sierras and ran into a group of mixed sled and bike conversions. Guy let me try it out. They are fun. But the Timbersled is designed for a dirt bike that weighs much less than a Harley weighs. Me thinks this picture is of a bike done for promotional purposes, not for real life sledding. That thing may be good for trails, but not for mountain sledding. And the cost is way too high to justify it.

I never understood how them single-ski motorcycle/snowmobile things worked. On a motorcycle, to turn you have to have enough speed, then you offset the planes of rotation between the front and rear tires to initiate a lean in the chassis. From this lean the bike rolls thru turns.

All I can see there is a turn of the handlebars at speed throwing the driver to the ground.

I just found that out last weekend at Bills Old bike Barn in Bloomsburg, PA. The museum had an HD sled, HD branded 2-stroke oil and HD branded snowmobile clothes too.

Had an uncle in western N.Y. that was one of the first dealers for Ski-Doo in the early 1960's, a lot of people looked at him and said "Red, those will never sell", the rest is history.

Lots of info here.

https://www.timbersled.com/en-us/?gc...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

For the most part, with standard snowmobiles, theres two different "types" of steering. On hard packed trail, you're turning the handlebars the way you want to turn, similar to an ATV. In deep powder, you counter steer similar to a motorcycle but with a much greater input from rider positioning on the sled. Throttle also plays a huge roll.

Never ridden a timbersled or anything similar, so I cant comment on that.

Does that count toward their whatever number of new models in whatever number of years they keep saying?
