Default My local dealership gave me a military discount?

Today I stopped in my local dealership for two items from the Parts Department since I was nearby. The parts counter guy asked if I was former military when he rung up the sale. I said yes (retired Navy). He called over I guess the floor manager and she entered a code for my sale in the register. Turned out it was for a 11% discount. I said thank you, but didn't ask if this was from now on or good for other departments in the dealership. I rarely shop here since I mainly support an independent shop or order my parts on line from other aftermarket businesses. But hey, thank you!

Is this something new HD is offering there Veteran customers, or just a friendly thank you from my local dealer being Christmas? Still a positive experience I thought I would share.

Now you need to tell us who the dealer is and thank you for your service.

It's nothing new. All dealerships as far as I know are independently owned so some stores offer a military discount, some don't. My local one doesn't per se, however, vets can sign up for some program (think its the open road membership) for $1 and then you'll get a 11% discount. But the more you spend, the discount increases..

We've bought parts, t-shirts, and the like at a dozen or so HD dealers from Virginia to Colorado and they have all given us a military discount (my wife and I are both retired USAF). We just ask when we're ring up and present our IDs-- easy peasy.

None of mine locally do it. We have a total of 4 bases within 120 miles of each other. I think the dealers realize most of their customer base is military, but they also realize guys will be full price too and if they give most customers 10%, they may feel a squeeze.

I have three locally and two of they give a 10% discount for Military and Vets. I don't think it applies to labor or bikes but hey I'll take what I can get.

We give a %10 discount on parts to military (active duty and retired) and first responders. Depending on how the customer's account is set up, it might be on every purchase or on a single purchase. And it's a disount from MSRP, we don't jack our prices up like some other dealers do.

I'm in Northern Virginia where there is a huge military presence. Think about the Pentagon, Quantico, Andrews, Ft. Belvoir, Ft. Meyer, Henderson Hall, etc.

The local dealer here, Wind River HD in Lawton, OK, always gives me a discount for being a military veteran. Very nice folks to deal with.
