Great Leather Jacket - Great Price
Wanted to pass along a great leather jacket I discovered. You can buy this jacket for $149 with free shipping from amazon. Its lined, inside pockets, outside pockets and seems to be made well.
Amazon link:
The jackets run a little large, i bought the next size down and it fits perfect. Will be a great riding jacket for winter here.

Junk. $10 says you won't want to know what the leather actually came from. It'll fall apart in a year, I guarantee it. The stretchy cuffs and waist thing will stop 'stretching' in no time and the 'leather' will tear easily and that jacket will *not* like getting wet. That jacket will work well in the cold the day a Baywatch bikini works on a scientist in the antarctic.
Spend the money and get a real, American Made, heavy leather jacket. 'You get what you pay for' wasn't pulled from someones *** with no reason behind it.
Fox Creek, Legendary, Hillside Leather, etc.
My Legendary jacket that I got in 2009 has been through hell and back...cooking pork shoulders in the late fall when it's cold at night and standing next to fires to stay warm, riding in *all* weather over and over again every year year 'round, being used as a pillow inside and outside of a tent, used as a ground cloth for my knees when working on the bike on the side of the road (my back kills me enough doing that, I refuse to let my knees hurt too, heh). Name it, the poor jacket's been through it and it'll keep going. It's got nothing wrong with it still and does me right in the winter time.

If youre on a budget check out ebay. The guys selling the ultra low mileage bikes have gear to sell usually too. Some names to look at for off the rack would be vanson, fox creek, schott, johnsons leather, aero leather, kerr, brown bear. If youre lucky with a common build and know your measurements, you can score a bates, cal leather, langlitz, z custom just to name a few. You want steer, goat, or horsehide at a minimum of 1mm thickness. Goat can be lighter because its stronger. Horse is naturally waterproof.
**** on a bomber for riding. At 150$ new my moneys on that jacket being water buffalo from india or something. Depending on your size you could score a nice used vanson on ebay for about the same money and vanson is stuff that youll see on the track. Another thing with riding leather, its got to be tight for it to do its job. A loose jacket will bunch in a slide and quickly turn it into a roll. Ive been down at speed. Dont cheap out on the jacket and gloves.
