Here's a great comparison of 3 motorcycle lifts.
I have a Harbor Freight unit but it's not stable. I recently bought a K&L motorcycle lift. I am welding up my own motorcycle dolly. A dolly is a great way to go because it's so stable. It has no moving parts (except the wheels). Another reason a dolly is stable is because it is wide.
Those platform lifts are also stable to the extreme but I don't like them because they take up so much space.

how do you like your python? I have only used mine twice....exact same one you have. Picked up mine at Laconia when Hutch came up for bike week.

It has been my experience that Harbor Freight stuff is usually all right for the home do-it-yourselfer who will use it occasionally, but not everyday to make a living with. I have the HF aluminum motorcycle jack, which I think is a nice piece of gear. I also have the lift table. As mentioned, the wheel chock is crap and needs to be replaced. In addition, HF no longer sells the side wings which afforded you a place to put your feet when you ride up on the lift. I have some of the HF ramp/lifts which I put beside the lift table and which are exactly the right height to put my feet until I get the side stand down. There are much better lift tables, but you decide how much you are going to use it and how much you want to spend. Just my $0.02...

I have a Handy air and a Snap On electric lift. The Snap on lifts a little higher and I do like the electric over air. Both are great. There are a lot of lifts out there much better than the HF stuff. I agree that HF products are good for a few things like rubber gloves but I wouldn't trust my bike on a $300 list especially when your wrenching on it. Check Craigslist that's where I found my snap on lift at a great price

I've got this one, same as HF with a better clamp, been using it regular gotta be 12 yrs now. Lot of bikes been on & off this thing.

Or you can go the HF table locally on sale and install this clamp, involves drilling few holes.

I love it! I gave my Craftsman jack away to a buddy. This thing is awesome. Hutch is a friend of mine.
