It's definitely a nice helmet but at $400 it's also a bit pricey.

The Shoei looks like a nice helmet. I use a half helmet and field of vision was one of my concerns with going full face. How is the Shoei in that respect, is your vision restricted much ?
My previous helmet was 3/4 face with a visor. The peripheral vision on the Shoei FF is the same. I like the added wind protection of FF since I don’t ride with windshield. Makes big difference on long rides.

Get a helmet that is ECE and Snell approved. DOT standards won’t protect your face since DOT does not test chin guards. Even some of the $50 skull helmets are DOT approved. Revzilla has best selection of ECE and Snell approved helmets under $300

You’re right it is very similar looking to the gringo, actually looks like it has a lot more ventilation too... found it on J&P and it’s actually about 10 bucks cheaper. And J&P is really good about returning stuff too, no hassles. Thanks for the heads up

There are certainly a lot of options out there, I actually spent less time deciding what bike I wanted than which friggin helmet to buy. Imagine that!
But I hadn’t ridden in a long time, so there are things I didn’t think to consider when I bought my bike. Like for instance, I love riding to work, because it’s an hour out of my work day that DOESN’T suck, but it tends to be a lot cooler at 4:30 in the morning when I get off than 4:30 in the afternoon when I go in. And mostly highway/interstate travel. So even though I bought my fatty because I liked the more stripped-down look of it, my first purchases for it were a windscreen and saddle bags...
I also prefer 1/2 helmets over others. But it was 40 degrees the other morning when I got off work, which doesn’t sound too bad, but by time I got home I looked like Dumb & Dumber on the scooter...

But is it round shape or oval? I loved Bells, but switched to Biltwell, when I found their shape better matched my head. The lid is no good if its not comfy.

Exactly why I bought the Bonanza 3/4 & amber bubble shield. Super comfortable & as quiet as my old Shoei RF-1000. I'd have bought another Shoei, but they don't do that round oval shape any more. Might look into a Gringo S myself.

Dumb question but how do you know what you need as far as round or oval. My half helmet is a WSB brand large, and it fits good...

The gringo says it has a round oval shape...then I found an AGV X3000 Helmet which is similar in appearance, that has a long oval shape. It’s also twice as much, but seems to offer more ventilation and better interior

I bought a gringo s a few months ago for a trip I took. Bought specifically for riding in the rain. No complaints. Sprayed it with some anti fog spray. When it quit raining switched to the half.
