Default Removing welded in baffles

Can anyone give me some tips on how to surgically remove the baffles from a set of Samson Fishtails? These are not the simple remove the screw and slide the baffle out kind. There is an inlet sleeve (seems to fixed really well) and a small spot weld on each end of the baffle. I’ve tried to send them back for removal and they are saying it’s not possible but it seems like it should be. I saw in an older thread someone was able to do this job. Thanks!

You may want to post a pic of the welds, depends how far in they are also.

Remove the baffle? Not likely

Drill out the baffle? All you need is a drill, drill bit extension, and a hole saw...

Without seeing it, hard to give the answer. If it's a single spot weld I have a drill bit that would turn that into a bolt in baffle. Problem solved.

Default Pics of the project.

This is the “inlet sleeve” that I cannot get out. They said there is some sort of weld holding it in but it is not visible anywhere.

You can see the small spot weld, I’m not too worried about getting that out.

I did this to my 17 RK. Sound was improved over stock for sure. In the end I was still searching for that twin cam sound that seems impossible to achieve on an M8.

If you want better sound out of an M8, you need more compression.

It does look like it is spot welded and not intended to be removed. However, If you really, really wanted to remove it, you could cut the first half inch from the pipe where the spot welds will be with a pipe cutter, similar to the one that plumbers use. It could also be cut with a dremel cutting tool by putting a piece of tape around the pipe and following it carefully when you cut.

Once it is cut, it would be easy to cut the ring that has the spot welds in small chunks until you "cleaned" off the ring from the tip.

I am destined to stay with the twinkie. Great engine, plenty of power and sounds like a Harley.
