Jiffy stand hangs a bit low/loose - adjust/replace?
Hey all,
It seems the Jiffy stand on my '05 E-G does not engage in the fully up position after I raise it up. It sags just a bit - perhaps an inch or so below what you'd call fully up. When I take a left corner/turn it scrapes on the ground. It's never fallen lower than that but I'd prefer it to be all the way up where it's supposed to be (or do they all do this?).
Is the Jiffy adjustable to take out this sag or is it worn out and needing to be replaced? I imagine replacing the Jiffy is an easy task is it not?
Thanks!

Arizona,
Just noticed the same thing on my wide glide. Sprayed some silicone at the pivot point while working it up and down. Works like new now.

Always carry a bungee cord as if your side-stand spring decides to give up the ghost you can still ride until you can fit a replacement.
My stand suddenly dropped on a ferry crossing and my trusty bungee got me out of trouble, but not before the ferry travelled back to the same side of the river from whence I had come from.

Sounds like your spring is done. There's one of two fixes you can do. Replace the spring. $6.95 at the harley shop but a fortune to have them replace it. I was quoted $70 spring included. Or, you can buy the spring, then buy a brake spring plier tool at Harbor Freight, about $15 and do it yourself. I found a small motorcycle repair shop and they replaced it for $20. Not bad at all
Or, check out www.kickstandcaddy.com. They sell a sleeve that mounts to the bottom of your frame. The kick stand locks into place when in the up position...so they claim. I'm going to buy one just as a safety measure. A jiffy stand in the down position when your riding can really ruin your day.
