Some I've read bend the spring......insert pennies between the coils(makes spring longer)....install and remove pennies

Agree it's probably the spring. I've replaced mine twice after coming off a curb. Easy job, chock the bike up with a couple of bricks or lump of timber' remove jiffy stand bolt, old spring off, new spring on, jiffy stand down, unchock, done. About 10 mins work.

I bought three springs and keep a spare on the bike just in case...

you guys are doing it the hard way. to replace the spring, take off the bolt on the locking tab, swing the kickstand forward, replace the spring, swing it back, replace the locking tab and bolt. no pennies needed, no yanking with pliers, no popping yourself in the nose. easy, peasy

I tried that. When I swung the stand forward it moved the spring tab further away from the spring tab on the frame.

So then I tried the penny/washer spring and all I did was to sprung the spring.

I got two springs coming in the mail today. Hopefully can get it done today.

I saw that too. I wonder if he fixed it in the last 7 years?
