Well, I know what I would offer in late Oct of a slow selling product.
I'd look up the invoice on seedealercost.com, add the factory freight charge and offer a $1000 profit backed up with a $1000 deposit. There is approximately a $3500-$4500 markup in a SG or RG depending on whether its a Special or not. If the dealership charges a "dealer fee" or "additional freight" or a "pre-delivery inspection/set up fee", the markup is even more as those charges are aka "Pure Profit". Let them explain to me why a $3k-$4k profit is more reasonable than my $1k offer.
Whoever buys who's story - or how much of the story - will determine if a bike gets sold. And at how much. I might not get the price at my first offer, but that's just negotiations. Stand tall. Heck, the dealer doesn't mind asking for all the money, you shouldn't mind offering a lower price.

The only way to find out for sure is to actually get on the road and visit several dealers. Depending on your area, dealer inventory and other factors you will have to do your own research.
