Default Fees associated with new Harely these days?

These days how much does a person have to pay for a new Harley other than the MSRP? How much over MSRP but before various fees? How much are the various fees such as freight, prep, etc.?

I just got a new ‘17 EG Ultra Limitd leftover for 30% under MSRP. Only add was sales tax & documentation. If the dealer is highly motivated to sell the bike you are interested in, such as a ‘19 CVO, expect to pay prep, destination, and maybe even dealer mark up. Destination is pretty standard...unless they really want to get rid of the bike.

Find the bike you like and have the salesperson give you an itemized quote. You can usually get that off a dealer's website if you request the OTD price.

It's no different than buying a car. Pick a model, go to a few dealers and negotiate for the best price. You don't have to pay the MSRP.

My hunch is many dealerships would bait-n-switch.

Only way that works is if you let it happen....know what you want before entering the store.

As for fees, freight charges for each model are clearly stated on H-D's website. Also on the website is a statement that Harley reimburses dealers for pre-delivery setup. Dealers don't like you knowing that, so expect denials when you hit them with this fact.

Best time to avoid fees and markup is when the dealer stock looks like this.

It is all negotiable. If you only visit one dealer just take what you can get.

This summer I got serious prices from three dealers.
1. MSRP plus sales tax, $400 freight, $100 setup no doc fee, trade in value $1000 below retail
2. MSRP plus sales tax, $500 freight, $900 setup, $300 doc fee. trade in value $3000 below retail
3. $1000 below MSRP plus sales tax, $400 freight, $100 setup, trade in value full retail, no doc fee

It was a busy week, I chose #3, which was also the closest, and one that I have done business with before.

I had a hard time keeping a straight face when #2 sales manager justified his $900 setup fee.(might have been $975)

so do your homework, legwork, and just do it. sometimes the only way to get something is to pay too much.

numbers rounded for my convenience, finance not considered. I also had a $1500 "rebate" from the company.

How can they do that if you request the OTD price on a specific bike? Your quote should contain the bike's Stock # or VIN. Have you never bought a new vehicle?
