Default 2016 Fat Boy w/ 120R concerns.

Giving this bike some serious thought.
https://adfarrow.com/Motorcycles-Har...c-a8eb0152409f

Lifetime eng & trans warranty.

Concerns are; Has the 120 really been proven as a reliable daily rider? I know there was a lot of talk about the 120, that they had no warranty when new. That they needed upgrades outta the box. Is this still true? It does have upgraded exhaust, and air. Is that enough? Or, with the warranty, should this be a concern?

The valve springs installed at the factory are way too stiff, which can cause lifter failure. If they have been changed I see no reason not to trust it for every day use. That bike will be lots of fun with that engine on it. You'll love it.

I dont think the warranty forever company will offer that coverage on that bike. That coverage does not apply to anything performance from what I know about them. If that is a 120R it doesn't even come with warranty from HD when you buy it. Unless they have changed that recently, it's been a little while since we sold one.

The reason that they didn’t offer a warranty was that Harley labeled that motor a “race” motor and designed it for the track....they didn’t want to be on the hook if/when it grenaded...

Looks like a fun bike to ride to me! I have no experience with that engine, so can't help you there.

Another on the springs. My lifter went at 9,000 miles. I bought an ST, when they tore it apart (ST has a 1 year warranty) I got a call asking when I changed cams. I never touched it, it shipped from the factory with ST badging but R cams installed.

Very common for piston slap noises, too. Has a very short skirt on the piston, and they get real noisy, and seen some fail, and get sideways in the cylinder. Not a good thing. In my opinion, unless you are a good mechanic, and don't mind doing lots of work on your bike, (including lots of money) I'd look at something else. And like anything, there may be some good ones, and bound to be some bad ones, good luck.
