Colorado does it again!

RE: Colorado does it again!
I think my child is worth the few hundred bucks it cost for a good
helmet. It is a lot cheaper than the pain and suffering if your kid
slams the asphalt because you make a mistake on the bike.

I cant imagine you letting your child ride without one to begin with.

Heard rumors, now its confirmed. Anyone under 18 needs a helmet as of July 1st. Bet the DEM. that proposed this is from Denver. I'm not totally opposed , but shouldnt this be a voting thing? Government justs keeps getting bigger and bigger. Guess i better get my youngest a helmet.

This only impacts minors now, but you can be sure where it is going. You give them an inch, they will take a mile.
It shouldn't even be a voting thing. It should be none of the government's business.
And I wear a helmet just about all the time. I think you as a parent should strongly suggest any children wear one law or not.

Not a fan at all of the government running our lives.
When it comes to the safety of our children I can't argue
with them telling us what to do.

NP with that law. One of the benefits about becoming a legal adult, is that you can (within the limits of the law), unnecessarily endanger yourself if you choose to do so.
Kids haven't yet earned that priviledge.
Those that argue against it, probably also disagree with the use of child safety seats for infants.

Perhaps they might next tell you that feeding them Sugar Pops is against the law because it can lead to childhood diabetes.
Should we let the government decide what they watch, what they eat, what they wear, and whom should parent them? I'm not tying to be argumentative, but I don't want/need the government to tell me what to do. Provide me with the safety information, and let me decide what to do. Seems reasonable to me.

My youngest is thirteen and has only ridden with me once since (she became an adult) or so she thinks . I have no problem telling her to put on a helmet. What I have a problem with is all the friggen stupid laws that Colorado seems to come up with. I'm originally from Ne. and we didnt have some of the stupid laws this wonderful state has.I agree with those that said if you give them an inch they'll take a mile. Colorado just passed 80 new laws, when will it all end?

Significant head trauma in children is a lot more common than you might think. It's not only devastating to the child, but to the entire family and all their friends. Suddenly your 12yo duaghter is 2 again. And she will never be three.
People like durcha and x2lee are smart enough to put helmets on their kids. But you have no idea how many idiot parents are running around loose unsupervised. I talk to parents all day long every working day. Some of them are about as bright as small appliance bulbs. My constant thought is that they are going to have a tough time growing up.
One of the major functions of our government - and society in general, for that matter - is to protect those that can't protect themselves. Laws like this protect the little people. How do you argue against that?

Those socialist transplants will have Colorado a blue state in no time. Boulder is just another name for tumor.
They call them "blue states" because their governments have strangled the life out of its citizens.
