Garmin shut off the ability to sync ride planner and many other programs directly to the zumo a couple of years ago. You now need to download the gpx file and then transfer it to the zumo. Not sure why you are going to basecamp, that is not normal. Attached is what ride planner looks like after you create a ride. You will see the download gpx button on the bottom.

I download gpx on my Mac
it will appear in Finder

how do I get the file on my ZUMO?
if I open the gpx it will appear in basecamp with only straight lines
if I send it by mail to myself en save it on my ZUMO the route is split in many short routes
why is t that difficult?
it should be not that difficult we almost live in 2020 !!

Plug your ZUMO into a USB port on your Mac (I also have a Mac).
I don't have the ZUMO model, but a Garmin I use in my truck. The Garmin storage will mount on your desktop just like any other external drive.
Then you can copy the gpx file you downloaded over to the ZUMO.
You will want to look through some of the folders, to determine which folder it to put the file in.
You should see something with other gpx files in them.
