Dave Zien is a local legend. Why his name isn't at the top I have no idea because, if I recall correctly, all those miles are on one bike. Regardless, he is #1 in the miles category - on a Harley Davidson.
He rode these miles on a FXRT. I believe Harley has this bike in their museum & the bike has around a million miles on it.

I look forward to your reply. Regards"
  • Their answer:
"We don't really compile those numbers, but you can take a look at our ride finishers list at
https://www.ironbutt.org/certified.htm

My personal guess is that more folks complete one of our rides on Harleys than any other brand, followed by BMWs. I would think that sport bikes are way down the list."
Learning is fun.

It turns out that the Iron Butt DOES publish statistics on the motorcycles used in Iron Butt Rallies:

https://www.ironbutt.org/ibrfacts.htm

It was an interesting document. 24 pages long. Lots of fun facts. I found this to be the most interesting part:

Iron Butt Rally results by motorcycle manufacturer (summary for all years)

Aprilia 1
BMW 511
Boss Hoss 1
Buell 3
Cagiva 3
Ducati 5
Harley-Davidson 63
Honda 356
Indian 4
Kawasaki 60
Laverda 1
Moto Guzzi 6
Panzer 1
Suzuki 29
Triumph 25
Ural 1
Vespa 1
Victory 5
Yamaha 181
Zundapp 1

That's:

511 BMWs
356 Hondas
181 Yamahas

...and 63 Harleys.

So out of 1258 motorcycles entries, Harleys represent about 5% of them.

And more than 30% of the Harleys entered, did not finish.

Which is about what I expected.

There's no such thing as a simple question on this forum. All possibilities must be considered, discussed and beaten to death. Repeatedly.

Oh, so now you're an expert on the complexity of questions and the possible answers?

Not so much the complexity, but rather the subtle nuances the others often miss. And yes, I'm definitely an expert. I followed that CRX guy for two whole days before I blocked him.

Tell her to "hold on to the saddle-horn."

I said this once (way back in the day) and the girl was like "this thing has a saddle-horn, where?" Then point to your crotch.
