2018 Street Bob vs 2018 Fat Bob. First Ride Review
#61
Every person I showed my the new bike to, loved it except a few Closed minded people who talk in circles about how things used to be. Every younger rider loved the designs. It’s been a little while since posting and now I know. I don’t need the 99 Sporty man to tell me what I know to be false. my Fat Bob S, yes I bought one now, screams off the line faster then my Sporty or my 96 or 103. It handles very well, a lot like a Sporty and far more comfortable. The torque is incredible in the 114. I think the guy who allegedly rode his friend’s new bikes is 100% full of ****!

Couple things I'd like to know: Why is it that if someone doesn't like something, they are called "close minded"? I for one think the new "Softails" are atrocious...they look like Honda VLXs, and they sound worse. Yes; I rode them at Daytona demo rides; they ride beautifully & are smooth as glass, but so what? They don't look, sound OR feel like Harleys; they feel very Jap to me. Also...why does everyone rate a bike by its ability to be ridden aggressively? Ya wanna ride aggressive, buy sportcrap. Harleys ain't made for that crap; they are made for riding long haul, and "stylin' & profilin'". Yea; you can ride rice, sauerkraut, or pasta agressively, but try taking one cross country. And as far as young people liking them...well millenials have taste up their ***; want proof? Just give a listen to that garbage they call music nowadays. No wonder they like the FXDR. And yea; "things" used to be much better...except Harleys don't leak anymore, and you ain't gotta search for a half hour to find a pay phone that works nowadays...but everything else sucks.
I've said it before, & I'll say it again: "If it don't move me in the showroom, it ain't gonna move me down the road".

Nice. I use that analogy all the time but with a '34 Ford hot rod.

Agree. Why not stick with the style that made you famous? You can do all the motor / electronics / balancing / better handling / etc and still preserve the look without getting so garish and offensive. "Dance with the one that brung 'ye". Why poke everyone in the eye with a stick?
