@Sherando I was in the same boat as you. I've ridden various street bikes over the years and most recently ride KTM Adventure bikes exclusively. Having ridden dirt bikes all my life the jump to Adventure bikes was an easy one. I have a KTM 790 and 1190 in the garage as well.
I'm 59 and have fallen off enough dirt/adventure bikes to know, I now ride completely different. I wanted a cruiser and looked at a bunch.
- Indian - Great bikes but I did not like the fit and finish.
- BMW - Also great bikes but they don't have the feel of HD
I originally test road Street Glide, Road King, Heritage, Sport Glide, Street Bob, even a Fat Boy. All felt heavy in the parking lot for sure but once on the road the weight disappears. I knew the Touring Bikes were just too big for the type of riding I do. 100 mile days with the occasional overnight. I'm not doing multi day multi state rides, and wanted something small and nimble. I saw a 2020 Fat Bob at a local bike hangout. Talked to the owner who said "It's Harley's Canyon Carver" lol
Test rode and bought on. The 114 engine is very torquey. Not Sport Bike torquey but torquey enough for me. If the Sport Glide came with a 114 I might have gone that route.
Good luck as I find the search is half the fun!

i don't search here for threads in a way such that I'd pipe in on anything other than a current one, but i get how and why it happens....it's all good
sometimes it takes a bit for the crowd that shows up to smell the dead bodies
