Default Negative Camber curve, kills a biker.

We have a road in my town with a couple of curves that have a negative camber. I usually don't go on that road, because I always thought it had too low of a speed limit. Maybe it doesn't.

It's typically a drainage issue that causes them to be built... But generally, depending on the speed limit, the road is required to have a superelevation... Meaning the normal crown of the road gets rotated to a positive slope on the outside of the curve.

It's either a very old road, or has tricky drainage issues. ASHTO regulations determine the speed limit. Follow the posted speed limit, and you should be fine (in most circumstances).

When I was just lad out on my '75 suzuki gt 550 I discovered how quickly a negative/ off camber turn can make you look like a rookie. This turn was an off ramp from I-90 to rt.85 near where I grew up...and to make it worse it was a decreasing radius too. Lessons learned that day, learn to counter steer and trust your tires.

Decreasing radius? Man, where do you guys find these roads? It's called a spiral, and almost never used. Drivers don't typically like having to continually turn their steering wheel around a curve... That's why you can usually hold the wheel once into a turn.

Railroads use spirals... Very rarely on roadways.

Compound curve, occasionally... But that's different also.

(Roads are fun)

The curve didn't kill him, his lack of riding ability did.

Obviously. That's the point of my thread. Trying to educate people, so they can improve their abilities.
