Default Does Cooling vest really works?

I would like to gather some insides on these cooling vests HD is offering lately. Does anyone use it? Looks like mesh jacket + vest is best combination but will it work with vented leather jacket?

Really curious about this thing as lately 95*F in Illinois are tough for rides.

I use my cooling vest all of the time during hot weather, including the deserts of AZ, NV and UT. I found mine on line and it works well under the mesh jacket as long as the vents are open, also under a vest only. When used properly it will drop your core temperature significantly.

According to several threads on this very subject lately, the answer is...yes. They do work.

They work and they work well. I'm not so sure I would wear one under a leather jacket, though--vented or not.

Yes they work.

I keep a dry bag with water in it in my saddlebag. When the vest dries out and stops cooling, I stop (usually at a fuel stop), put the vest inside it, squeeze and shake it around a little and it goes back on.

they work better in dry areas, as opposed to high humidity, but even in the high humidity of la, you still get some benefit.

Yes humid is rather on higher side in IL weather but I will try to get this at least bit better as sometimes it is just nuts so anything cooling me will help. Wet shirts help but for really short time.

wonder if I should buy HD vest or other manufacturer? Price difference is minimal

I bought HD brand after looking on line. Main advantage was being able to try one on in the local shop. The HD brand seems to run a little on the small side.
