Default Exhaust

Just bought a 2018 Road Glide ultra and was needing to know if it would be fine to put slip-ons on it without a tuner or re-mapping? Thanks in advance.

You don't have to do anything else. But bear in mind that even a stock bike will greatly benefit from a good tune. However, it seems that with the new bikes any tune except the one from the dealer may affect your warranty.

I was always told that if you change or alter the airflow at one end of the engine, you need to change or alter the airflow at the other end.

If you want a change in performance!
Changing one,, changes nothing in performance.
Here's the gig Phiduex, Air-fuel ratio is of course controlled by the ECM's reading of censors et`al,,
But the factory Air intake is somewhat restricted and factory exhaust is somewhat restricted,, change just the air intake and the exhaust is still restricted,, change just the exhaust and the intake is still restricted,, therefore no real change to the air/fuel ratio has been made.
If you want a true performance upgrade of the engine then you have to change both allowing more air to free flow to the engine,, that is when a change to the ECM or map is needed to add more fuel to maintain the AFR.
Get it?

Before you do anything you should consult with the dealer to find out how this will impact your warranty.

Not really looking for better performance just yet. Mainly looking to get rid of the Jap bike sound. Looking at megaphones right now. 4" Thanks guys. That was my thinking. Intake restricted and only opening up the exhaust a little more. I read where the ECM has a little bit of leeway to compensate for small changes.

It would be alot less expensive to just swap out pipes. I did both but I know I could have gotten away with just installing slip ons.

Slip-ons are ok, just make sure they are epa compliant. I run Rinehart motopro 4.5 on my cvo limited and bike runs great with no tune needed and sound good.
