I wear cloves for all the time for all of the protection reasons already stated. However, there are some additional reasons also. Gloves provides me a degree of cushioning, especially for the throttle hand on my grips with a throttle boss. They also absorb the sweat from the palms of my hands providing a greater sense of grip security. Grips can get slippery when wet from rain or sweat. And, for me they just feel and look good...like why do sport car drivers wear gloves?...because the feel and look good (it is an image thing!).
I've gone to fingerless gloves for the hot weather but will go back to my fingered gloves as soon as the temps get back down to reasonable levels. Of course, if you ride in cold county, gloves are a necessity (not so important down here in Central Florida). So JFYI, Bass Pro Shops sells a pair of gloves intended for fishermen and the like that are designed for 100 MPH wind that are made of a very thin material that keeps the hands very warm and makes them wonderful for operating a bike in frigid conditions. (i own a pair that I will probably never use unless I travel a long way NORTH.) But for those without heated grips in cold country, maybe worth a try. But NO they don't have the Harley logo so don't wear them into the H-D dealership, you might get black balled.
For what its worth but not sure if it's is even worth the perverbial 2 cents.

Old topic, new thread. Thoughts on riding with or without gloves? Sometimes I like it, sometimes, I don't...I think theres a saying about being a nut that goes kinda like that? Just curious as to what others thought. Lately I've been a gloves and ff simply because here in the midwest, haulin *** around on a street bob, without a fairing or windshield, during these months, there are some SERIOUS insects out buzzin around! Gloves help in that regard, as well. What do you all think? on this fine 4th of July!

The style number of the ones I wear are below.
I wear these gloves daily and they last me about 4-5 years before they get a hole in it.
I LOVE THEM!
Covers me from the scorching heat. Some protection if u go down. Thin enough to realize that u forgot u even have them on.
I can use all my control and Garmin GPS touch screen super easily.
LOVE'm!
Easy on and easy off.
When I go into a store, they pop 3/4 the way into my back left pocket so it is simple and out of the way.

This is why I always wear gloves. Rashed my hands up plenty as a kid riding bicycles - no interest in finding out what that's like at 5x speed.

Yep, I wear them and would be uncomfortable without. I'm going to look at those BuzCapp7 suggested, that sounds good. Hey guys, I recently had a half dollar sized portion of skin surgically removed from the top of my right hand. I'm ok now and it barely left a noticeable scar. But it was a result from to much fun in the sun.

I like fingerless gloves for the tactile feel It's kind of like not wearing gloves, but you get protection in the heel of your hand; that's what you're thrusting out there when you go down. Weightlifter's gloves have added padding in the palm and heel of the hand; that extra padding could come in handy.
