Default S&s e carb

I'm just wondering has anyone ever taken off their s and s e carburetor float bowl without having to take off the entire backing plate I feel like if I got a little shorty flat-head screwdriver I could get in there and take it out just wanted to know what everyone thought I would like to prevent myself from having to take out all those little bolts and screws because I really don't have a torque wrench to put them back into spec

I always remove the back plate. Much easier to line up the bowl for reassembly and to prevent losing track of that little blue "O" ring.

To make the job easier I made up some bowl screw extensions for front and back using some threaded rod, a few aluminum spacers and four chrome acorn nuts from ACE Hardware. Much easier than fighting with the stubby screw driver.

I've never used a torque wrench on a carb...and the Super 'E' is one of the easiest carbs to work on. Were it me, I'd take it off the manifold, and take it apart to my heart's content!!! Don't overthink it!

Get them out and replace with allen heads much easier to deal with on the bike. You can do the slot heads on the bike but it's a wrestling cuss a lot match.
