Bubbled Paint On Master Cylinder

Bubbled Paint On Master Cylinder
Leaking brake fluid is a common HD problem. The paint on my Street Glide master cylinder / brake lever mount point is bubbled and ugly. I'm pretty **** about my bike, and that irritates me to no end. Any ideas on covers or repaint to fix the paint? Who makes the chrome covers that cover the whole master cylinder? What have you all done? Thanks!

Yup, brake fluid is the world's best paint stripper, at least DOT 3 & 4 that is. I'm really disappointed that with all the technological knowledge the human race possesses, we can't come up with a brake fluid that doesn't strip paint. Well, DOT 5 fluid doesn't attack paint, but apparently it doesn't work with ABS, so no DOT 5 for you.

Gotta get the fluids flushed out the MC and lines every couple years. Also noticed that long term exposure to direct sunlight/ Heat adds to the problem. I stopped leaving my bike parked in my garage on the side stand for an extended period of time. I noticed that’s where it starts seeping in the corner when the bikes tilted over. If I know it’s gonna be sitting for a couple days or more I’ll throw it up on the lift

A while back someone suggested sanding the outside of master cylinder by hand and then using rustoleum satin black paint.
I suggested what i read to someone with a master cylinder paint damage problem and they did the suggested process i had read to the bottom part of master cylinder(not the cover).
Nothing removed from bike but everything was taped and protected from over spray.
Looked good when done and still does after almost 2 years.
