I posted about a trip that I made to Charleston, SC a couple weeks ago for a conference. After I crossed the border from Virginia to North Carolina, I made a gas stop. As I prepared to continue the ride, I strapped the helmet to the back seat and rode the rest of the way into South Carolina without the lid on. This past week, I kept thinking about it, and finally I checked on line for the state by state helmet laws. Good lord. Well, 180 miles and I passed at least three speed traps that I was aware of and a few troopers on the side of the road offering their services to motorists, but none of them came out after me.

Hey, it was a great ride. No helmet. Some Bob Seger playin through the Harmon-Karmons. Weather was great, turning fuel into noise.

On the return trip, it was raining off and on, so I was in the rain suit with helmet and face sheild.

 

oops.. LOL Good thing you didn't get stopped. Any idea what the fines are for no helmet?

 

I have no idea, but I bet it would have taken the rest of my allowance for H-D parts for a while. 8-)
