Funny moment riding in the rain...

RE: Funny moment riding in the rain...
Way back in my younger days my bud and me went for a ride in the winter. Not far, just up to the local coffee shop. Kinda strange, seein' 2 bikes in the parking lot, all the other vehicles were either 4 wheel drives or snowmobiles... Wintertime in Idaho is a bitch to ride in... LOL

Glad to hear that we weren't the only ones who have been riding in the rain lately. I wondered what those truck drivers were thinking whenwe passed the in the rain at 3:00 in the morning. Flipping off the sky when it is dumping on you, that is a good one!

Keeping it straight up and anticipating stops are the keys to riding in snow. Ice is a different matter...you sometimes have to use your feet as outriggers.

I did roughly the same thing myself this past Thursday on my way home from work. Just freakin' got dumped on! I thought, I'm already wet...screw it and kept riding home (passing 3 overpasses). When I got home, I dumped out my boots and had a brew. Weatherman didn't get it right, but I made it home safe. I just wonder what the cagers and the guy I saw under an overpass on a metric were saying about me ;-). I'm not about to tempt fate and give Mother Nature the bird though.

Out here, if you're not riding in the rain at some point, you likely ain't riding. You just grin and bear it and be a little more careful. I do draw the line when it gets around the freezing level though. With our hills, it can get slick and that's no party.

Last Wednesday the forecast was for light rain until noon and then clear skies. I've got good rain gear so I suited up and started my 38 mile commute to work, mainly interstate. About halfway to work, I'm riding in the right lane of 3. Through traffic I can see a motorcycle coming up in the far left lane. As he gets closer I take a look to the left just to see who else is out riding this morning. Well, it's a NC state patrolman on his BMW and I'm running about 12 mph over the speed limit. He's wearing a full face helmet but I can still tell he's got a big grin on his face. He looks over at me, gives me a thumbs up and off he goes through the traffic. Sorta made me feel like he was saying "Good for us, we'll ride and the hell with the rest of 'em". It was one of those "you had you had to be there" moments.
That was the only other motorcycle I saw on the way to work.
