Default Throttle cable snapped

Throttle or Idle cable snapped, dont know which one yet. Only 5k on the bike, wondering if this is normal or is I should have done some lube or something?

Don't sound normal. Should be under warranty at least.

I hadone break right at the ball at the throttle grip in the driveway as I was heading to work one morning. At first I was pizzed and then thought how lucky I was that it failed in the driveway and not out on the road. The cable was about 4 yrs. old and 30k on it. Ilube mine withBike Aid dri-slide every time I do the 5k service. I would tend to think yours was never lubed in the first place.

Seems premature to break at 5K.Could have beenbecause ofdry cable, corrosion, falty cable or what the cable attaches to is stuck.
Where did the cable break?
I lubed my cables when I did the 5K service.

Mine broke about 10 miles after my experienced MSF course! I was sure glad it happened then. and not during the course. I "idle-screwed" my way home at about 10 - 15 mph through the back roads. Lube it!

It's probably made in China anyways....not surprised.Really though, 5k is too short of a lifespan I think. They should be lubed at a minimum of 10,000 miles right along with clutch cable.

Then again, a brandnew cable on a brandnew bike can break just as easy. Things just sometimes happen[:@]for no apparent reason.

seems ever since I got here in Cali last year I have had a problem with my throttel cable

once it locked up on me @ the bay bridge toll plaza

mine has been locking up more than snapping but it did snap on me in Texas last year
I have not had a problem except once since I put my old cable on it from the 6" risers and 28" apes it is just straped over to the other side because of the lenth
