Just FYI, I do a lot of long haul highway riding too, averaging 75 mph+ for hours at a time, and even before I enlarged the oil return holes in the rocker support plate, the amount of oil misting wasn't intolerable. It never got on my clothes or anything like that. just left a light coating on the air filter bracket, and carb, at times,n heheh... but, as I said, once I opened up the oil return holes, the issue disappeared.

Cheers!

Two of us agree. Little oil actually gets in intake since what you see is the little that accumulated in the line and drips a few drips down.
Drilling the bottom of the breather only allows the incoming air to bypast the 180 turn and shoot straight up thru the screen that helps remove more oil after the 180 turn..
But the rest are alast, tin men saleing their wears or those drinking their coolaid.

The umbrella valves prevent the intake of air, not the expulsion of it. The idea is to create a partial vacuum in the crankcase etc. So when they fail, they would fail at preventing the intake of air. The system would still be able to expel the air (and any oil/water content therein). The umbrella valves themselves have a rep (so I've read) for not lasting too long before they start to fail. That's why I added a Krankvent. Actually, from what I've read, the umbrella valves can just be removed/tossed when using a Krankvent.

Default Little VENT info from Harley

One way rubber check valves out do nothing to stop any oil from coming out. There is a brief time that there can be a vacuum in the crank case

I went with a hose, no catch can, After a day or two you wont even notice the hose is there. It doesn't drip enough to warrant a catch can.
Here is what I did https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...n-removal.html

I agree. If it’s such an issue, where’s all the engine failures from breathing oil vapor???

I went with DK's DIY kit and wound up putting the breather filter inside the right side cover under the battery... out of sight, out of mind.

I bought the Breather bolts. Look cool but they are a mess. If you clean the foam every time you ride maybe, but who wants that.
So DK are straight up guys!
I bought the hose kit with the filter. So much better! But still you have to clean the sponge.
So this year I just ran the tube down the the lower frame in the front.
We have a winner....so far!

Has anyone noticed any performance improvement from this modification like better gas mileage, smoother idle, etc.? By the way, pretty slick setup, Gozzie. I might just go that route. Pretty simple and doesn't cost a lot.

No not really....lol
But not putting oil/water crap back in to the intake. So longevity is the key here.
Maybe plugs will last longer????
