Sheared bolts
Hey guys,
During my last ride the bolts holding rear pulley to my rear wheel sheared & completely chewed up my pulley & wheel. It's $900 for new wheel & pulley. I have never turned in a insurance claim before on a bike or car. I have full coverage on my bike with a $500 deductable. Does anyone know if that would be covered under insurance? I use progressive as insurance agent.

Um, I did. I powder coated both wheels & basically everything I can take of ohe bike. I ordered new bolts from J&P Cycles (I know to use new bolts as stretching can occur during original torquing) I chased threads w proper tap to remove all old locktite, used new locktite, & torqued to the specs & pattern in service manual. The bolts we're PM bolts, I did notice the bolts we're a bit shorter than stock but not much. Guess I'm just screwed cause I doubt J&P or Performance Machine will do jack about it.

This is actually a maintenance issue. There's a guy on Youtube, John Maxwell (a Harley Tech in Georgia). Puts out some pretty entertaining videos each week. He covered the need to check and tighten those bolts every once in a while just recently. Check out his channel. He's pretty funny and frequently has some good advice.
